Artist Bren Bataclan visits Fostertown Elementary School!
Fostertown 5th graders had an awesome experience this past week painting this beautiful mural in their main hallway with help from nationally acclaimed Artist Bren Bataclan. Students celebrated their finished mural with an official ribbon cutting ceremony. Bren Bataclan travels the country gifting his artwork to strangers to make their day, with a targeted mission in mind. His mission: Leave his art around the country in random places for strangers to find, with the return promise that the recipient will smile more often.
Bren has gone worldwide with his project and he has begun to paint murals and exhibit his paintings across the country. Prior to painting full time, Bren taught computer graphics and design at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and at the Boston Museum School. He also worked in a design think tank lab in Boston and was involved in the computer animation industry in California. Bren received his undergraduate degree in design from UCLA, Summa Cum Laude, and his graduate degree in computer animation from the Ohio State University. His work and his help this week at Fostertown Elementary School definitely embodies the Newburgh Enlarged City School District mantra this year of "Do It With Love".
Bren immediately bonded with the Fostertown 5th graders, having them each create their very own character to be included in their finished mural. Students looked fondly upon their completed creation and were so proud to be able to leave a lasting mark in their school building for future students to enjoy for years to come.
