Registration Information
In its continued effort to serve the residents of the Newburgh Enlarged City School District, the Office of Registration will continually pursue efficiently placing children in the schools of their choice.
It is responsible for the registration of all students new to the District, or those re-entering. It also has the responsibility of distributing and equalizing enrollment among nine elementary schools and three mid-level school buildings. It designs and implements all aspects of the registration and transfer process guided by the recommendations and policies of the Newburgh Board of Education.
In order to accomplish this, a lottery may be necessary at the Kindergarten level each year. If the number of applications to a certain school exceeds the number of seats available at that school, a lottery may be necessary. Siblings of students already enrolled in particular schools have preference of that building.
The parents of Non-English or Limited English speaking children may choose Bi-Lingual or ESL as an option for their children. These children must be tested on any Tuesday or Thursday morning throughout the year at the Office of Registration.
Parents are reminded that requirements for registration are as follows and are required at the time of registration.
* Child must be 5 years of age by December 1st of the year they enter school
* Birth Certificate
* Proof of immunization (up to date)
* Proof of residency (Utility bill, rent receipt, lease or mortgage agreement)
* Custody, Guardianship, or Foster Care documentation if necessary
* Picture ID of Parent / Guardian
Registration for students entering the Newburgh District during the current school year is ongoing.
Transfer Requests are accepted from January through the end of June to be considered for the following September. They will be reviewed at the end of July at the Registration Office.
The procedure for all internal transfer requests should begin with making an appointment with your child’s building principal, where you would fill out the transfer request, the principal’s office would forward the transfer request to the Registration Office for review over the summer.
*Registration related dates and events can be found on the district calendar*
