Attendance
Students are expected to attend school daily. Habitual and widespread tardiness sets a poor tone for the general atmosphere of the school. We expect that students arriving by bus will not leave school property upon arrival. If a student will be absent from school, parents/guardians are urged to call the school early in the morning.
It is the responsibility of the student to see that any classroom work, homework, or test missed due to absence is made up.
Class cutting refers to an illegal absence from a subject. Students absent from school without the consent of parents or guardians are considered truant. Tardiness, truancy and cutting will be cause for disciplinary action. The school should be notified if there is a change in a student's address or phone number.
Books
Students should exercise care in maintaining their books. Students are responsible for the particular numbered text issued to them. These textbooks must be returned, in good condition, to the teacher or a monetary fine will be charged. Any outstanding fines will prohibit the issuance of a report card. The school bookstore is located in the main lobby. It is open in the morning before homeroom where a limited number of school supplies are available for purchase.
Bus Guidelines
A student who becomes a discipline problem on the bus may be deprived of the privilege of transportation. Parents/guardian will be notified of the bus suspension and will be required to provide transportation to and from school during the time of the suspension.
If a student needs to ride a dismissal bus that is not his/her regularly assigned bus, a parent/guardian must request permission in writing. The note should include a telephone number where the requesting parent/guardian can be reached during the school day for verification. The note must be brought to an administrator at the beginning of the school day.
A late bus is provided Monday - Friday.
A Late Bus pass signed by a faculty member or administrator is necessary. Students must report to the late bus room by 2:45 PM to wait for their ride.
Cafeteria
Food cannot be taken from the cafeteria. Students may bring or buy their lunch. Pupils cannot leave the building during their lunch. Students are not to loiter in the halls during lunch periods.
Candy/Gum
Possession or consumption of candy or gum is not permitted on campus.
Dress & Personal Grooming
The wearing of coats, hats, bandannas and/or visors is not permitted in school.
Outerwear is to be placed in student lockers prior to homeroom. Students are encouraged to dress and groom themselves in an appropriate manner. Any dress or appearance which clearly constitutes a threat or a danger to the health or safety of students or constitutes a disruption to the educational process shall be prohibited.
Electronic Devices
Radios, tape decks, personal stereo units, beepers and any other electronic devices interfere with the academic operation of the school. Any student observed with such devices will be directed to administration and the device will be confiscated. Disciplinary action will be taken for repeat offenders.
Fire Drill
When the fire bell rings students are to pass in an orderly manner to the exits designated by instructions posted in each room. Running is prohibited during a fire drill. If for any reason it is necessary to vary the instructions, students should follow the directions given by the teachers in their immediate area. Upon re-entering the building, students are to report directly back to their respective rooms. Each student is responsible to learn the building plan for fire drills.
General Rules & Regulations
Before school opens, pupils are expected to remain outside, or in the foyer during inclement weather. Student homeroom assignments determine which entrance is to be used. Students are to be in their assigned seats when the late bell rings. Students should listen attentively to all announcements. All necessary books and materials must be brought to class. A pass must be obtained to return to a previous class or go to their lockers for materials. Students should move quickly and quietly to their destinations.
When students are sent out of a classroom for disciplinary purposes they will report immediately to guidance or the AP waiting room. Students must leave the classroom the way they found it.
