Newburgh Holds Annual Junior High Spelling Bee


     On Wed., Oct. 29, 2008, students from Newburgh Enlarged City School District’s Heritage Junior High, North Junior High, and South Junior High Schools attended the annual Spelling Bee held in the Board of Education Auditorium.

     For nearly two-and-a-half hours students had their spelling ability tested in front of their peers and others in attendance. In the end, Callie Cline of Heritage Junior High School was the overall winner of the Spelling Bee.

     The top three students for Grade 7 were: Third Place: Bhavana Patil (HJHS), Second Place: Wazier Rafeek (South Junior High School), and First Place: Callie Cline (HJHS). The top three winners for the 8th grade were: Third Place: Raquel Asher (North Junior High School), Second Place: Mahin Choudhury (NJH), and First Place: Ben Siper (SJH).
