The Hip Hop Handbook Visits South Junior High School

The Hip Hop Handbook, started in 2002 by Jairus Green and Justin Murta, made a special visit to South Junior High School recently to educate and encourage students to use conflict resolution to settle disputes through music and dance. The HHH also spoke to the eager 7th grade students about the importance and value of a good education.

The group has toured all across the country and has worked with some of the best and brightest in the hip hop community including Usher and Chris Brown. Newburgh’s own dancer Wyatt Stevens, cited by fellow dancers as “an example of what anyone can do” with hard work, was a crowd favorite at the event for both teachers and students. Students also learned about the historical end of hip hop going back to disco and other forms of music.
