Temple Hill Academy Students Create Pinwheels For Peace
On Mon., Sept. 22, 2008, students from Temple Hill Academy, mentored by Temple Hill Academy Art Department teachers, participated in the Pinwheels for Peace project and worldwide art installation. Hundreds of pinwheels were “planted” on display on the front lawn of Temple Hill Academy. The event was held to correspond with the International Day of Peace which fell on Sun., Sept. 21, this year.
Pinwheels for Peace was established in 2005 by two art teachers in Florida as a way for students to express their feelings about their own lives as well as the events going on around the world. The project was quickly picked up by other schools and organizations around the world. The goal is for students to express their feelings through the creative design of a pinwheel and to showcase what is on the mind of the young adults within our communities.
