Humanitarian Event Delights Washington Street Pre-K Students
Peace educator, singer, songwriter and author John Farrell and African drummer Maxwell “Kofi” Donkor performed at an assembly for students at the Pre-K Center at Washington Street on Fri,. Sept. 12. According to Principal Joan Goudy-Crosson of the Pre-K Center at Washington Street, the two men performed for students as part of a humanitarian assembly for the children.
Farrell brought both students and teachers to their feet during the audience participation and sing-along portion of his act. Students clapped and cheered as they followed Farrell’s lead with songs about ants and being friends. In addition to the United States and Canada, Farrell has performed across the world in countries such as Ireland and Japan.
African drummer Kofi was a crowd favorite with his skills on the drums and other various instruments that he brought along for the special performance. During a special segment of his act, Kofi invited several students up front with him to be guest musicians.
Farrell encouraged the students to be appreciative of their teachers every single day stating, “Your teachers have one of the hardest and most important jobs in the world.”
