NFA’s Youth Activation Council Attend Youth Activation Summit for the Section IX Unified Sports and Special Olympics

On Friday February 9th, students from NFA’s Youth Activation Council (NFA Main and NFA North) traveled to Monroe Woodbury High School for the Youth Activation Summit for Section IX Unified Sports and Special Olympics.  The purpose of the summit was for students to collaborate with each other on ways to increase support and to be more inclusive within their school and community.

In one of the activities students to attempted basketball skills while disabling one or more of their senses.  Students put in vision distortion goggles, wore oven mitts to remove grip and tried to make a shot in a wheel chair.

The Youth Activation Council has come away with some good ideas for the upcoming Unified Basketball Season this Spring!

ATTENTION: Are your scholars or colleagues doing something great? Please contact the district Communications Team at communications@necsd.net. We’d love to visit your class or event and/or post your pictures and recap to highlight the amazing accomplishments throughout our district!
