Magician Joe Keppel’s “Explore the World and Read” Delights New Windsor Elementary School Students
The magic and wonder of magician Joe Keppel graced the auditorium at New Windsor Elementary School recently much to the delight of students and teachers. According to Keppel, he began performing magic decades ago as therapy for a broken hand while in high school. Now, 37 years later, Keppel brings his world travels into his routines providing an educational journey around the world through magic. Intrigued students eagerly listened as he spoke about his travels, relating his time abroad to his magic tricks, through topics such as cultural traditions, languages, currency, and geography. In addition, Keppel shared a few magic tricks from various countries that he has learned over the years.
The program also teaches students that regardless of a student’s age or background reading is the key to success in their life. “Books are the best place to start,” Keppel told the students in attendance. Keppel explained to students that regardless of any limitations set before them their school or public library is always a good first stepping stone when interested in expanding their horizons.
