Math and Science Night 2010
New Windsor School hosted its annual Math and Science Night on Tuesday March 9th. Ms Roberts and Ms Romanik were coordinators of this event. Math and Science Night started out as a way to include families in the learning of Math and Science and how to continue this learning at home.
This year the activities were as follows: The Sixth Grade teachers made pancakes to help students learn how to measure circumference and diameter. Third, Fourth and Fifth grades hosted an Oreo Extravaganza. They had activities like how fast you lick the frosting off your cookie, how high you could stack them, how far an Oreo would roll, weighing the different kinds of Oreos and estimating how many were in a pack. Second Grade provided a money lesson using the Smart Board. First Grade had activities incorporating Tangrams and Pattern Blocks. Kindergarten did a Sink and Float Lesson using Coke and Diet Coke. Ms Romanik conducted a Math Lesson and Ms Rademacher had an assortment of Math and Science Books out for students to read.
It was a fun night for everyone!
