Advanced Placement Testing

If you have a child in an Advanced Placement Class this year you should recieve the following letter:
Dear Parent or Guardian:

Your son or daughter has enrolled in one or more Advanced Placement Classes this school year. It is now time for you and your child to decide if he or she intends to register to take one or more of the Advanced Placement (AP) exams. Testing takes place this year from May 3 through May 14 according to a specific testing schedule. Tests must be ordered in advance for each student who plans to take an exam.

Most colleges will offer credit or advancement to students who achieve a “qualifying test score” on this international exam. The “qualifying test score” for any given subject exam is totally up to the discretion of the college your son or daughter ultimately attends. Colleges often indicate their AP score requirements on their website.

Most students have already received a test schedule, information bulletin which explains Advanced Placement examination policies and procedures, and a registration form. Extra copies are available in the Liberal Arts and Applied Sciences Guidance Office.

Please note that the cost of each exam is $86.00 payable on or before Friday March 6, 2009. Payment, in full, must be made by that deadline so that the school can order a test for your child. Check or money order must be written payable to “Newburgh Enlarged City School District.”

Please be sure the student’s full name appears on the memo line of the check or money order along with his or her ID# and the name of each exam being ordered.

If your child decides to participate in this year’s testing, please remind him or her to bring the Registration Form and payment to Ms. Crotty in the East Guidance Office (Liberal Arts and Applied Sciences Guidance Office) on or before the deadline of Friday March 5th.

Please contact me if you have any questions.

Yours truly,
Laurie Crotty
AP Test Coordinator
