South Junior High School Students Recognized for Poster Designs as Part of Tobacco-Free Schools Program


     On Thurs., June 24, 2010, four Newburgh Enlarged City School District South Junior High School students, Nicole Marie G., Celeste Arisbeth L., Caitlin Marie R., and Ace Kimo S., Jr., were honored as part of the Orange County Department of Health’s Tobacco-Free Schools Program. The students, two from both the 7th and 8th grades, participated in a poster contest in their art classes focusing on the world-wide effort, “No Tobacco Day”, held on May 30, 2010.

     According to Beth A. Hoeffner, Public Health Educator for the Orange County Department of Health, the students selected received the most votes from the staff at the Community Health Outreach Office for their creativity and overall presentation out of numerous entries. Hoeffner presented the students with movie passes, gym bags, hooded sweatshirts and gift cards to Barnes and Noble.
