Building Construction/Carpentry 1 (11) CRS NUMBER 740 CREDIT 2.0
First year course designed for students that intend to enter construction as a career. This is an introduction to carpentry as related to building and construction trades. Students will learn to read and interpret blueprints, estimate building costs, safe handling of hand tools and portable power tools, and
techniques and processes involved in "rough" carpentry such as framing-floor, wall rood, sheeting, roofing, and siding.

Course Requirements: Students must provide suitable work clothes and work shoes. Students must be willing to work outside.
Building Construction/Carpentry 2 (12) CRS NUMBER 741 CREDIT 3.0
Second year course for students that intend to enter construction as a career. This course is designed for seniors who will participate in construction of wood frame buildings at an actual job site. Students will continue to refine skills developed in the first year. In addition, they will learn finish carpentry skills; such as, dry wall installation and finishing trim door and window installation, finish floor installation.
Prerequisites: Building Construction/Carpentry 1 #740
Course Requirements: Students must provide suitable work clothes and safety-type shoes. Willingness to do physical labor and work outside.
