Hair and Makeup Design for Theater       CRS NUMBER 794    CREDIT 0.5

THIS COURSE IS OPTIONAL IN THE SEQUENCE
This is a ½ year hands-on course in theatrical make-up and hair design. Students will learn how to apply character, and special make-ups for use under theatrical lights. Hairstyling application of false hair, aging techniques and special character make-ups such as monster, clown, etc. may be explored.
Prerequisites: None

Course Requirements: Completion of all class assignments. Students are also required to participate in make-up and hair design for AARTS Academy productions.


Cosmetology 1 (11)       CRS NUMBER 704    CREDIT 4.0

This course includes the practice and study in the fundamentals of manicuring, shampooing, styling, shaping permanent waving, straightening, coloring, facials, and massage techniques. Importance of sanitation, sterilization, and personal and public hygiene is stressed. Good attendance is vital to success in this program.
Prerequisites: None

Course Requirements: Purchase of kit (money due 2nd Fri. in Sept.), mannequin, and one field trip ticket (approx. $200). Completion of assignments and junior notebook is also required.


Cosmetology 2 (12)       CRS NUMBER 705    CREDIT 4.0

The second year is a continuation of the topics listed in Cosmetology 1 with emphasis on skilled training with the participation of live models and patrons. General shop management including public relations, business ethics, inventory and supplies control is included. Students will be required to bring in models to work on once a week. Good attendance is vital to success in this program. Students will be eligible to take the NYS examination for a Cosmetology license upon successful completion of the course (1000 hours).
Prerequisites: Successful completion of Cosmetology I #704 (500 hours)

Course Requirements: Supplies for your kit must be updated. Completion of a senior notebook is also required.
