Dancing with the Teachers - Friday


NFA teachers and staff members along with enthusiastic students will come together on Fri., April 30, 2010, at 7 p.m. in the newly redesigned NFA auditorium for the annual Dancing with the Teachers scholarship fundraiser event. Tickets are $5 for general seating and can be purchase by calling the NFA Bookstore (563-5413) or at the door the night of the show.

The HJH Open House is scheduled for March 15th at 7PM and the SJH Open House is scheduled for March 16 at 7PM. This week, applications will be sent home with each student as part of the selection process for grade 7. Ksenia Makarova Finishes 10th at Olympics


NFA's Ksenia Makarova finished 10th at the 2010 Winter Olympics. She finished 12th in the Short Program and 9th in the Free Skate for an overall placing of 10th. Quite impressive for her first olympic appearance and we can't wait to see what she has in store in the years to come. Congratulations Ksenia Makarova!

This is due to the District having one unused emergency day. Schools and District offices will now have a half day on May 22, and will be closed on May 25 and May 26. The BOE meeting originally scheduled for May 26 is now scheduled for May 28. The ELA Benchmarks scheduled for May 26 will now be administered on May 27.

Newburgh crushes Minisink Valley in Class AA boys' final


From Varsity845.com The Newburgh Free Academy boys' basketball team scored 48 points in the first half and rolled to the Section 9 Class AA championship with a 91-53 victory over Minisink Valley Saturday in Newburgh. NFA limited Minisink to 26 points in the first half. Minisink was the defending Class AA champion. Marcus Henderson scored 27 points and Patrick Johnson added 17 for Newburgh.
