GAMS Celebrates Black History Month with Student Presentations
Gidney Avenue Memorial School (GAMS) held a culminating assembly in honor of Black History Month. Students performed for families and their peers in an informative and celebratory event. The student performance welcomed Mr. Arthur Lorde from the Newburgh Armory Unity Center who performed for the scholars. Student presentations included speeches about influential Black figures throughout history, songs, and dances.
The event was coordinated by 5th grade teachers, Ms. Spencer-Smith, Ms. Bulson, and Ms. Keane.
Faculty and staff wore shirts celebrating Black History, coordinated by Ms. Nancy Gross.
