Gardnertown Families: Road Closure Impacting Dismissal Process
Dear Gardnertown Families,
We were informed that the Orange County Department of Public Works will close part of Gardnertown Road to repair the Gardnertown Bridge, effective on or about April 7th (please see the NOTICE OF ROAD CLOSURE).
Recently, I met with the Town of Newburgh Police Department to discuss the impact of this closure on the drop-off and dismissal process at Gardnertown Leadership Academy. We anticipate an increase in traffic on Plattekill Turnpike, as vehicles detoured from Gardnertown Road will travel to Route 300 and vice versa.
Updates to the Drop-Off and Dismissal Process:
- Please line up on Plattekill Turnpike as close to 9 AM as possible.
- Starting April 7th, all student walker drop-offs on Plattekill Turnpike will cease, except for families who live in the adjacent neighborhood. For safety reasons, we recommend you remain in your vehicles to avoid crossing the street amid traffic coming off Gardnertown Road and Route 300.
- The dismissal process will be monitored during the initial days of construction, and we will communicate any necessary changes.
Law enforcement will be present to assist with traffic flow and manage congestion.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email us at glacares@necsd.net.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation
