Vails Gate Fall STEAM Festival
Our first graders had a wonderful time celebrating the Fall STEAM Festival! The day was filled with hands-on learning, creativity, and lots of fall fun.
Each class moved from one first grade room to the next, participating in exciting S.T.E.A.M. activities. Students worked on their fine motor skills as they made paper bag scarecrow puppets.
They also created beautiful fall tree crafts by adding red, orange, and yellow leaves to their tree cutouts to show the colors of the season.
Our Gators listened to the story Pumpkin Jack and learned all about how pumpkins grow. Students discovered that pumpkins start as tiny seeds, then grow into vines, flowers, and finally bright orange pumpkins! Students will continue to check on their classroom pumpkins and watch them grow week by week.
We also explored why leaves change colors in the fall. The children learned that when the weather gets cooler and there is less sunlight, the green color in the leaves fades away. That’s when we can see the beautiful reds, oranges, and yellows that were hiding inside the leaves all along!
It was a fantastic day full of learning, laughter, and creativity. We loved seeing our first graders explore science, art, and nature in so many exciting ways!
