Horizons-on-the-Hudson Hosted Its 12th Annual Multicultural Festival
Horizons-on-the-Hudson (HOH) Library and PTO hosted its 12th Annual Multicultural Festival on Saturday, December 17. Families had a lovely time making over 70 Gingerbread houses and Ugly Sweater cookies. They also enjoyed arts and crafts, and delicious cultural foods. The HOH Library Troupe worked with Music Teacher, Ms. Martorano and led a lovely, mellifluous holiday sing-along, and Troupe member, Hendrix Hanson blew us all away with her piano renditions of holiday favorites. Additionally, Troupe members and families shared stories and experiences of December holidays and celebrations, and we even learned about Chinese New Year 2023, observed in January this year. Newburgh's own Viva Mexico Mariachi Band wowed everyone with selections such as “Feliz Navidad.” The band featured two very talented teenagers who are helping to keep the long, rich tradition of Mariachi alive right here in our community. Local vendors brought us specialized gift items, many of which were handmade. We want to extend a special thank you to HOH families, Troupe members, NFA students, including members of the National Honor Society, HOH Faculty and Staff and their family members for their invaluable help, and thank you to our entire school community for your continued support.
