Forty NFA Scholars Have Five Policies Accepted in County-Wide Youth in Government Convention
Forty NFA students participated in the Youth in Government platform convention at Minisink High School. This program has been in Orange County for over 78 years.
This year, in a very competitive election, NFA students Janell Rosales and Roman D’Alfonso won Chairperson and Secretary of the People's Party. At the convention, students break into two parties, each with six committees. In each committee, students present policies and bills they would like made into laws. NFA presented policies in eight committees, with five policies being accepted.
Since its beginning the objective of Youth in Government has been to understand party participation, election procedures, Parliamentary Procedures, and citizens’ roles in a Democratic society. During this Presidential Election Year, one of the most important lessons learned in our club is how to attack problems in an orderly manner.
