NECSD Comment regarding recent lawsuit
“The Newburgh Enlarged City School District is aware of the pending litigation involving Best Resources Inc. against the District, its Superintendent in a representative capacity, and the Child Care Council of Orange County, Inc. regarding their LEAPS Grant application. The LEAPS Grant was awarded in April 2024 to community-based organizations; however, the District was not in communication with Best Resources Inc. until June 2024, at which time the District was first informed by Best Resources that it had been identified as its collaborator for this grant application. It should be noted that a basic requirement of the initial grant application requires an agreed upon collaboration between a school district and a community based organization.
Additionally, there are unfounded allegations in the suit of impropriety which bear no resemblance to the truth. As a matter of standard practice and out of respect for the legal process, the District and the Superintendent do not comment on the specifics of active or ongoing litigation. We remain confident that the relevant facts will be appropriately established through the formal legal process. In the meantime, the district’s primary focus remains on the education, safety, and well-being of its scholars and the continued operation of its schools.” Mr. David Shaw, legal counsel for the NECSD
