Gardnertown Students Kickoff Leader in Me Initiative
Recently, students at Gardnertown Fundamental Magnet School in Newburgh kicked off the school’s leadership initiative, The Leader in Me which coincides with the 7 Habits, and invited local dignitaries to visit the school and witness what they are learning in action. Assemblyman Frank Skartados stopped by to speak to students about the importance of leadership. In addition, Assemblyman Skartados joined with students for an assembly sing-a-long about the 7 Habits before briefly touring the school.
The 7 Habits leadership series focuses on seven habits that offer students the opportunity to grow into successful life-long learners. Habits include: Be Proactive, Begin with the End in Mind, Put First Things First, Think Win-Win, Seek First to Understand then to be Understood, Synergize and Sharpen the Saw.
