Heritage Middle School Hosted Veterans Day Breakfast
Heritage Middle School hosted a Veterans Day breakfast to celebrate and honor veteran family members of scholars, faculty, and staff from the middle school. Veterans in attendance were treated to a performance and participated in activities throughout the event.
Under the direction of Mr. Michael Hickey, God Bless America was performed by Manny Tejeda on solo trumpet. Newburgh Free Academy’s Junior ROTC Color Guard presented the colors.
Select members of the Heritage Middle School 7th and 8th Grade Band performed the Star-spangled Banner and the U.S. Field Artillery March. Members of the Heritage Middle School Chorus performed This Little Light of Mine.
Mr. Rogers, a long-time veteran spoke about the history of Veteran’s day and the meaning of the day.
The event was organized by faculty, staff, and PTO members with the assistance scholars National Junior Honor Society, particularly president Sophia Leggett and vice president Aarav Shah.
To conclude the celebration, scholars from Heritage Middle School lined the hallway as the special guests exited the building. Scholars held signs, waved flags, and cheered for those being honored.
