A letter from our Superintendent regarding an incident in our community

Dear Goldback families,

The safety and well-being of your child(ren) is our highest priority. I am writing this letter to inform you about a recent incident in our community that you should be aware of.

Yesterday, we received a report from a parent about an incident that occurred in the driveway of their home late last week. The parent reported that while her child was in the driveway warming up the family car, a male approached the student and began talking to her. The male then asked whether the child attends a specific school in our district. The male then told the child that he would come back. The same male returned a few minutes later and continued to ask the student if they attended a specific school and that he would take her there. The student reported the exchange to her parent who then called the police. The Police Department is investigating the report.

We are writing to encourage you to talk to your child(ren) about the potential dangers of engaging with anyone with whom they are unfamiliar. Please help us remind your child(ren) to speak to an adult if they are ever approached by a stranger.

Queridas familias Goldback,

La seguridad y el bienestar de sus hijos(as) es nuestra máxima prioridad. Estoy escribiendo esta carta para informarles sobre un incidente que ocurrió recientemente en nuestra comunidad que debe tener en cuenta.

Ayer, recibimos un informe de un padre sobre un incidente que ocurrió en el camino de entrada de su hogar la semana pasada. El padre informó que mientras su hija estaba en el camino de entrada calentando el auto familiar, un hombre se acercó al estudiante y comenzó a hablar con ella. El hombre luego le preguntó si el estudiante asistía a una escuela específica en nuestro distrito. El hombre le dijo al estudiante que regresaría. El mismo hombre regresó unos minutos más tarde y continuó preguntándole al estudiante si asistía a una escuela específica y que la llevaría hasta la escuela. El estudiante informó el incidente a su padre, quien luego llamó a la policía. El departamento de policía está investigando el informe.

Le escribimos para alentarlo a que hable con sus hijos(as) sobre los peligros potenciales de entablar conversaciones con personas desconocidas. Por favor, ayúdenos a recordarle a sus hijos(as) que hablen con un adulto si alguien desconocido se les acerca.
