Annual Bilingual Parent Workshop at Gardnertown
Recently, the Bilingual and ENL Department at Gardnertown School held its Annual Parent Workshop at the Newburgh Armory Unity Center. The goal of the program was to provide ELL parents with information and resources to better help their children at home. The event was a great success and was attended by about 50 Gardnertown families. PTO President Melissa Gillespie spoke to parents about the different activities and events that takes place in the school. The parents were able to meet with their child's classroom teacher to receive intervention strategies to use at home. Refreshments and door prizes were received by all in attendance. The bilingual staff from K-3 consisted of Mrs. Juneau, Ms. Jimenez, Mrs. Maloy and Mrs. Vasquez-Ricks. The ENL staff consisted of Mr. Strum and Mr. del Olmo. Additional volunteers include, teaching assistants Mrs. Perez and Mrs. Corona, Principal Mrs. Torres and Assistant Principal Mrs. Johnson.
