A letter from Acting Principal, Ms. Jessica Layne
February 27, 2019
Dear Heritage Middle School families,
The safety and well-being of your child(ren) is our highest priority. I am writing this letter to inform you about an incident that occurred in our building this morning.
The fire alarm was activated in our building today, Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at approximately 7:45am due to an equipment malfunction in the cafeteria. Students evacuated the building as they have practiced during previously scheduled fire drills. After the fire department arrived and cleared the building, students returned to the building after approximately 20 minutes.
The company that supplies the equipment will be at Heritage this morning to inspect the matter. Any necessary repairs will be made as soon as possible. Lunches will be served.
We are especially thankful for the quick thinking and fast response of our cafeteria staff. Together, we all promote a safer and more secure environment for our scholars, faculty, staff, and NECSD community.
Through the work of all,
Jessica Layne, Acting Principal
Heritage Middle School
Newburgh Enlarged City School District
