Newburgh Free Academy JROTC Wins Big at Home Drill Competition
Over the weekend, Newburgh Free Academy hosted their Annual Home Drill Competition. Not only did our cadets help run our biggest event of the year, our drill team performed exceptionally well! They competed against 8 other teams throughout New York and New Jersey. The Drill Team took 1st Place in Unarmed & Armed Color Guard, commanded by c/1st Lt Boggs. They also took 1st Place in Unarmed Inspection, commanded by c/Maj Guerriero, as well as 1st Place in Unarmed Exhibition, commanded by c/1st Lt Andreu with an MVP going to c/SrA Fuentes for learning the routine in less the 3 days from competing. They also placed 2nd in Unarmed Regulation commanded by c/1st Lt Restuccia, and five of our cadets placed in the top ten for Knock out. It was a great day for the Screaming Eagles to fly high!
Some judges of the competition represented the Navy, Army, Marines, and Air Force and included Senior Security Monitor Adam Mejias, Coach Malcom Burks, and a member of Stewart International Air Force Base.
