Temple Hill Hosts Second Annual 5th Grade Career Panel
On March 13th, Temple Hill Academy hosted their second annual 5th Grade Career Panel that was facilitated by Juana Rivera. This event was an opportunity for students to interact with four professionals in a wide variety of career areas to learn about what it takes to prepare for a specific career and what it takes to be successful in the world of work in general.
The four guest speakers were Ms. Tara Jackson, a professional Chef, Mr. Joe LaGrutta, a Marketing and Analytics Consultant/ Entrepreneur, Ms. Erika Monell, a Certified Personal & Professional Coach who is also an IT professional, and Mr. Loui Cardenas, an Police Officer for the NYPD.
Each panelist was asked a series of questions followed by a Q&A sessions for students to ask their questions.
Chef Jackson stressed the importance of clear communication and mindfulness as tools to overcome challenge and safety hazards when working in a kitchen.
Officer Cardenas chose to work the night shift so he’s able to spend quality time with his family and attend daytime school events.
Mr. LaGrutta, a marketing professional, reminded the students that we learn so much from our failures and to jump at opportunities that come their way, even when afraid.
