NFA Main Black History Club Hosts Youth Community Resource Fair
The Newburgh Free Academy Black History Club hosted a Youth Community Resource Fair that welcomed nearly 20 community agencies. The fair was planned to commemorate the legacy of "paying forward" during Black History Month. The NFA Black History Club partnered with the NECSD Deptartment of Family and Community Engagement and Planned Parenthood to coordinate the event.
The fair was open to all students, faculty, and staff throughout a portion of the day.
The community agencies offered tips for teens on physical and mental health and wellness, healthy eating demonstrations, and community service opportunities.
Organizations included: Boys and Girls Club of Newburgh, Cornerstone Family Healthcare, Honor, Safe Homes of Orange County, SUNY Orange Golden Stars LPP, City of Newburgh Police, Newburgh Girl Power, Catholic Charities, the YWCA, Orange County Department of Health, ADAC, Newburgh LGBTQ Center, Cornell Cooperative Extension, Mental Health Association, Hudson Valley Community Service Inc., and Planned Parenthood.
The NFA Black History Club is advised by Ms. Tara Jones, Guidance Counselor at NFA Main Campus.
