Eyes of Hope® Provided Eye Exams & Corrective Lenses Free of Charge to Approx. 50 at Horizons & GAMS
Eyes of Hope®, a program that supports local communities around the globe through initiatives that provide access to eye care, eyewear, and disaster relief to places where they’re needed most, spent two days in the Newburgh Enlarged City School District, at Horizons-on-the-Hudson on March 25th and Gidney Avenue Memorial School on March 26th.
Over these two days in our district, approximately 50 students were evaluated, fitted, and many were provided corrective lenses/glasses the same day.
This State Education Department Initiative is a promising collaboration between this wonderful organization and local schools to secure eyeglasses for our scholars. Mr. Bill Hecht, Superintendent from Orange-Ulster BOCES visited the program today at GAMS on behalf of NYSED Commissioner MaryEllen Elia. NECSD looks forward to an ongoing relationship with Eyes of Hope to continue to support our scholars who are in need of eyeglasses.
ATTENTION: Are your scholars or colleagues doing something great? Please contact the district Communications Team at communications@necsd.net. We’d love to visit your class or event and/or post your pictures and recap to highlight the amazing accomplishments throughout our district!
