NECSD Providing Amazing Learning Opportunities Chromebooks for Scholars
During the 2018-19 school year, the Newburgh Enlarged City School District embarked on a goal of giving scholar’s access to Chromebooks. With a goal of digital Convergence and 21stCentury learning the district purchased Chromebooks for each scholar in grades 3 through 10. Our scholars began taking their Chromebooks home in 2018-2019 school year. Embracing our district mantra of "We Are One," students in grades 3-10 are now One: 1 with Chromebooks with kindergarten- 2nd, 11 & 12th grades having grade level access and bring your own device policies. This initiative gives our scholars not only access to currenttechnology and 21st Century Skills, but aims towards closing the digital divide. NECSD provides support and Instructional Technology Facilitators to assist in bringing our new technologies into our schools and classrooms while helping our scholars integrate the 21st Century technologies into their individualized learning process as well as beyond academy field.
In the spring of 2019, NECSD received a grant from AT&T that will allow students who don't currently have access to internet eligibility to receive a free wireless device and free high-speed mobile Internet service (for up to four years) while in high school.
