REMINDER: Wednesday - September 18, 2019 - 15 Minute Early Dismissal Drill
The Newburgh Enlarged City School District’s annual drill of the EARLY DISMISSAL PROCEDURES is scheduled for Wednesday, September 18, 2019. This drill is required by the Commissioner’s Regulation 155.17 and is conducted in schools located in Orange County.
Students will be released 15 minutes earlier than their normally scheduled time in order to test the early dismissal response procedures of the DISTRICT EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT PLAN AND SCHOOL SAFETY PLANS. All after-school activities/programs scheduled before 5:30 p.m. will be canceled. Activities after 5:30 p.m. may be held as scheduled.
Please make appropriate arrangements for the early arrival of your child as a result of this drill. Your child should know how to walk home, or which bus to take and where to get off. He/she should also know where to go in case you are not home. This drill will not be an actual emergency, but students should be prepared in case we ever have to use these procedures for a real emergency. This is a good opportunity to update your emergency information at your child’s school, and to develop a family plan to be used upon your child’s arrival at home.
Thank you for your cooperation.
