NFA Key Club Presented with 2019 Robert J. Rizzuto Volunteer Appreciation Award
Members of the Newburgh Free Academy Key Club were presented with the 2019 Robert J. Rizzuto Volunteer Appreciation Award recently.
In a letter informing the group of the award, Ms. Anne Marie Schoonhoven, Executive Director, St. Luke’s Cornwall Health System Foundation, described the award, “The Robert J. Rizzuto Volunteer Appreciation Award recognizes volunteers and fundraisers who represent outstanding volunteer characteristics and dedication to Montefiore St. Luke's Cornwall (MSLC). This award, established by Peg Rizzuto, is named in memory and honor of her late husband Robert J. Rizzuto, who was a dedicated volunteer and fundraiser for the Cornwall Hospital Auxiliary for more than 15 years. He did much of his work “behind the scenes" and did not look for recognition. This award not only continues Robert's legacy, but is a testament to the awardee's dedication to serving the hospital's patients and families, and the people in the communities we serve.”
Amongst a number of worthy candidates, the Auxiliary selected the Newburgh Free Academy Key Club and the Newburgh Kiwanis Club as the 2019 recipients of the Robert J. Rizzuto award for their service to Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall with their annual Baby Shower for the MSLC Birthing Center & NICU. Over the past four years, the Kiwanis Club of Newburgh and the NFA Key Club have worked with community organizations to collect and donate thousands of infant and baby items that help our mothers-in-need with essential items to keep their new babies warm and safe.
Members of the group, along with their advisors Ms. Sandy Baines and Ms. Michele Bender attended an event to accept the award.
