Student Spotlight: Meet Haley Dando!
Haley Dando is a senior at Newburgh Free Academy Main Campus and is a member of the NFA Girls Varsity Soccer team. She has been a contributing photographer for athletic events this year (more on where to find her photos below).
“Originally I loved when my mom took photos of me, so when I first got a camera for my 16th birthday, the boys on the baseball team asked me to take photos and it evolved from there,” Haley says about her start with photography. Haley likes taking photos of everything, but especially enjoys taking portraits and photos of flowers. She particularly enjoys the challenge of getting a good action shot. With the rise of social media, Haley recognizes that people like to be able to highlight what they’re involved in and what they’re able to do and she’s glad to be able to help her peers highlight their athletic abilities.
Prior to attending Newburgh Free Academy Main Campus, Haley attended Gardnertown Leadership Academy and Heritage Middle School. Aside from her role on the Girls Varsity Soccer team, Haley is an active participant at events hosted by Student Activities.
Next year, Haley hopes to attend college to major in architecture and possibly minor in photography. She is currently looking at Penn State, Drexel, Northeastern, Wentworth, and RISD.
You can find all of Haley’s photos in the Athletics section of our website, NewburghSchools.org/Athletics!
