Heritage Middle School Scholars Become Safe Schools Ambassadors
Scholars from Heritage Middle School spent two days learning to recognize and diffuse bullying situations as part of the Safe Schools Ambassadors Program earlier this month. Scholars who participate in the School Ambassador program spend two days learning to stand up to bullying and become helpful members of their community within the education setting. These students work in groups, act out scenarios, and role play different situations which they have either seen or experienced themselves. These activities teach our scholars how to diffuse real life situations and encourages them to seek out help from trusted adults when the situation may call for it.
The Safe Schools Ambassadors Program is funded in part through the Orange County Department of Mental Health, Youth Bureau and United Way cooperative grant. Our Safe School Ambassadors are an integral part of the Heritage Middle School community.
Several teachers and guidance counselors from Heritage Middle School took part in the training days to facilitate learning beyond the scheduled days.
