GAMS Unveils Lending Library Thanks to Local Donor
Gidney Avenue Memorial School (GAMS) unveiled and outdoor lending library thanks to a generous donation from Mr. Stephen Powers, a retired librarian who lives locally. From the donation, the small library was assembled, and ready to distribute books. Scholars from Ms. Purdy's first grade class, Mrs. Gross' 2nd/3rd grade class and Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Holzapple's 3rd grade class joined Mr. Powers for a ribbon cutting and to fill the structure with books. Each scholar took a turn to add a book to their school’s new library. The ribbon cutting was followed by a small reception where cupcakes were decorated with favorite book titles and juice. The lending library is outside of GAMS and is available for scholars and their families to borrow and return books at their convenience. A special thanks to the custodial staff at GAMS who helped to install the structure.
All photos from the ribbon cutting can be viewed and downloaded for free here.
