NFA's Visual Communications Class Recruited to Design Habitat's Annual Walk T-shirt

Newburgh Free Academy's Visual Communications class was recruited by two alumni to create a design for their annual walk. Mr. Matthew Arbolino, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newburgh and Mr. Gary Chasteen Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newburgh, both alumni of Newburgh Free Academy, recruited scholars to create a design for their annual Walk for Housing.

Mr. Gary Chasteen presented to the class about their upcoming event and what they were looking for in a design. Mr. Chasteen informed the student designers about required elements, styles, and coloring. They also discussed designs from previous classes and critiqued why specific designs have been chosen in the past.

Students will create and pitch their designs to the Habitat team in the next few weeks.

The "Fullterton Crew" is part of the Visual Communication and Design Program taught by Mr. Jeffrey Gebhardt, specifically VC 3, at NFA Main Campus. The club is a student-centered design firm meeting the needs of design for both school, district, and community.

The design that is chosen will be used as the primary design for Habitat for Humanity of Great Newburgh's 21st Annual Walk for Housing. Just last year, Habitat of Greater Newburgh celebrated the dedication of their 100th house in 20 years!

This year's Walk for Housing is scheduled for Sunday, April 26th, 2020.

ATTENTION: Are your scholars or colleagues doing something great? Please contact the district Communications Team at communications@necsd.net. We’d love to visit your class or event and/or post your pictures and recap to highlight the amazing accomplishments throughout our district!
