Student Spotlight: Meet NFA Senior Kahnia Cousar
NFA Main Senior Kahnia Cousar was recently accepted to attend HBCU Virginia Union University in the fall – her first choice. Ms. Margaret Chesser has been her assistant principal since she entered NFA Main in 9th grade. Overcoming challenges in her life, Kahnia often sees Ms. Chesser as a mother figure to her, saying that “she really helps. She just loves her students.”
During her time at NFA Main, Kahnia has participated in NFA Dance, Stage Crew, and Upward Bound. Just recently, she started working at her second after-school job. In addition, Kahnia has been working diligently to pass the final Regents exam needed for her to graduate in June, which she successfully did this January.
During college Kahnia plans to study psychology. She has done well in Advanced Placement (AP) Psychology and is a good listener, likes to talk and observe. After college, she plans to start off by working in a hospital to gain experience and then open her own practice.
With Kahnia’s determination, there is no doubt she will accomplish her goals.
