Senior Spotlight: Meet Our Valedictorian & Salutatorian
Meet the Valedictorian - Katherine Gravel
Katherine Gravel - 100.89 GPA
The Newburgh Free Academy Class of 2017 Valedictorian is Katherine Gravel. Katherine is a member of the NFA Concept Vehicle Racing Team (CVRT) and takes her love of STEM and applies it to the project by working on the electronic circuit boards for the concept vehicles. She is also an accomplished flautist, receiving recognition at All-County and Area All-State levels. In addition, Katherine is a co-captain of NFA Crew, President of the NFA Chapter of the Science Honor Society, former President of the Interact Club, former Co-Captain of the NFA Main Debate team, and a member of the National Honor Society. Katherine will continue her education in the fall at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where she will be majoring in biological engineering.
Meet the Salutatorian- Juan Peticco
Juan Peticco - 100.00 GPA
The Newburgh Free Academy Class of 2017 Salutatorian is Juan Peticco. As a six-year member of the boys swimming and diving program, he earned three Section IX Titles, and was a two year Team Captain. Juan is also a member of the National Honor Society, NYS Science Honor Society, Italian Honor Society, and Orchestra. Juan is active with the local community outside of school, giving his time to the Heritage Middle School Science Fair and the Mount Saint Mary College Family Chemistry Night. Juan will continue his education this fall at Williams College where he will be double-majoring in Psychology and Biology.
