Meadow Hill Girls on the Run Team Tackles It’s First 5K
Meadow Hill’s first annual Girls on the Run team was on the move and in full gear as the team prepared for its first 5K run. The team was in high spirits as it made its practice run through the surrounding neighborhoods of Meadow Hill. Supported by parents and staff members, the team covered 3 miles. The mission of Girls on the Run is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. They envision a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams. Running is used to inspire and motivate girls, encourage lifelong health and fitness, and build confidence through accomplishment. Important social, psychological, and physical skills and abilities are developed and reinforced throughout the program. At each season's conclusion, the girls and their running buddies complete a 5K running event which gives them a tangible sense of achievement as well as a framework for setting and achieving life goals. This year the Meadow Hill team participated in the run held at New York Military Academy in Cornwall, NY.
