Meadow Hill Girls on the Run Team Prepares for Rally for Ryan 5K
Meadow Hill’s second annual Girls on the Run team has been on the move and in full gear as the team prepares for its 5K run next month. The team was in high spirits as it made its practice run around the school’s track. Rain or shine, these girls are dedicated to setting goals and achieving them as they set targets for more and more laps at each practice session. Supported by parents and staff members, the team practices every week. The mission of Girls on the Run is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. They envision a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams. Running is used to inspire and motivate girls, encourage lifelong health and fitness, and build confidence through accomplishment. Important social, psychological, and physical skills and abilities are developed and reinforced throughout the program. At each season's conclusion, the girls and their running buddies complete a 5K running event which gives them a tangible sense of achievement as well as a framework for setting and achieving life goals. This year on November 18th, the Meadow Hill team will participate in the run held at Rockland Lake in Rockland, NY. The team will also be participating in the Rally for Ryan event at NFA on October 28th.
