HMS Scholars Discuss PRIDE History
HMS students joined Mr. Cobo and Ms. Tonge to create a safe space and have a discussion around PRIDE month and the history/significance of this movement. As an inclusive school that celebrates and respects heritage & diversity, students used this event to learn more about LGBTQ+ and discuss ways to be allies and advocate for their school community. Students were encouraged to speak up and report any harassment, discrimination, or bullying to a trusted adult in the building.
Through their Google Classroom, The Student Support Zone, Ms. Tonge and Mr. Cobo engage with HMS students and encourage them to engage in self-care. Students have access to mental health and community resources, fun surveys to promote student engagement, and participate in biweekly google meets discussing a myriad of topics, some which are student-led. Please see the attached banner.
