Family University (FamU) has Launched!
What Is Family University (Fam U)?
In the Newburgh Enlarged City School District, family means not only the biological people in a child’s life, but any significant person in the life of a child that loves and nurtures that child. So, Fam U is available to mentors, grandmas and granddads, aunts and uncles, older siblings, and faith-based and community-based leaders.
Fam U is the opportunity to support families as partners in the education of their children. Fam U seeks to inform and engage families so they can make the critical and everyday choices that affect the well-being and academic success of their children.
The Fam U classes and events are informative and fun and provide a safe place for families to learn and grow.
Where will Fam U take place?
FAM U is virtual for now. But, coming soon are live streams, and in the future we may be able to do small in-person gatherings based in our schools and community. The official kick-off for FAM U is Wednesday, June 23, 2021. FAM U will be launched on the NECSD website: newburghschools.org.
How does Fam U work?
Once you register you will be provided an access code to acquire the resources created to support our scholars and families during the summer months. Teachers and educators have crafted grade-level videos and additional resources to provide effective, engaging, and fun strategies that reinforce what is being learned in the classroom.
Families who register for Fam U can access the pre-recorded videos and additional resources at their convenience. The teachers introduce the strategies in the videos and how to implement the strategies in ways that are simple and accessible for all our families. So, you will be able to use everyday items in the home and things you see in the community while playing or on the go! The powerful collaboration between families and schools created by FAM U leads to success for children!
