Welcome Back Letter for Heritage Middle Families

Dear Heritage Middle School Families and Scholars,

I would like to welcome all of you to the 2021-2022 school year. The first day of school is Wednesday, September 1st.  I am excited to begin this school year as the new principal of Heritage Middle School. While I have worked in the Newburgh Enlarged City School District for over 20 years. I have served as a teacher and as an assistant principal here at Heritage for over 15 years and look forward to being your new principal. 

As we all know, the past year and a half have been quite challenging.  As we enter this new school year, we look forward to welcoming all of our scholars back to in-person learning. The staff here is committed to making sure that your scholar gets the best academic and emotional support. We will work to ensure that your scholar is learning in a safe environment by following any COVID guidelines and protocols that are in place. 

Below are just a few items to get your scholar ready for the school year:

• School supply lists are available on the Newburgh website. They continue to be updated so make sure to check back for new information. Teachers may also provide a list during the first week of school. 
• Schedules will be given to students on the first day of school. This ensures that scholars are scheduled properly.  More information on how they will be disseminated will be on the District website and the Heritage PTO Facebook page. Robocalls will go out to families when this information is available.
• Bus information will be posted on the NECSD website. Click on Departments and choose Transportation. This information will be available in the afternoon on Friday, August 27th.  Scroll down and on the right side of the page click on Access Bus Start and End Times. You will need your scholar’s ID number. Also, please make sure to complete an alternate bus stop form if your scholar needs to be picked up or dropped off at a different location. You can find this information on the Newburgh website under the Transportation Department.

Students are assigned a grade level administrator and guidance counselor who will follow your scholar throughout their time here at Heritage. They are as follows:

• 6th grade-Mrs. Cameron, assistant principal. Ms. Barringer, guidance counselor.
• 7th grade-Ms. Valentino, assistant principal. Mrs. Ryan, guidance counselor.
• 8th grade-Mr. Santiago, assistant principal. Ms. Latorre, guidance counselor.

Estimadas familias e estudiantes de la escuela Heritage,

Me gustaría darles la bienvenida a todos al año escolar 2021-2022. El primer día de clases será el miércoles, 1 de septiembre. Estoy emocionada de comenzar este año escolar como la nueva directora (Principal) de Heritage Middle School. He trabajado en el Distrito de Newburgh por más de 20 años. He servido en la capacidad de maestra y subdirectora aquí en Heritage durante más de 15 años y ahora espero con emoción ser su nueva directora. 

Como sabemos, el último año y medio ha sido un desafío. Al entrar en este nuevo año escolar, esperamos darle la bienvenida a todos nuestros estudiantes mientras regresan al aprendizaje en persona. El personal aquí está comprometido a asegurarse de que su estudiante reciba el mejor apoyo académico y emocional. También trabajaremos para asegurarnos de que su estudiante está aprendiendo en un ambiente seguro siguiendo las pautas y protocolos de COVID vigentes. 

Aquí hay algunos elementos para preparar a su estudiante para el año escolar:

• Las listas de utensilios escolares requeridos o recomendados están disponibles en la página web de Newburgh. Se actualizan continuamente, así que asegúrese de volver a visitar la página de red para obtener nueva información. Los maestros también pueden añadir a la lista durante la primera semana de clases. 
• Los horarios serán distribuidos a los estudiantes el primer día de clases. Esto asegurará que los estudiantes estén programados correctamente. Encontrará más información sobre cómo se difundirán en el sitio web del Distrito y en la página de Facebook de Heritage PTO. Las llamadas automáticas se enviarán a las familias cuando esta información esté disponible.
• La información de los autobuses se publicará en el sitio web de NECSD. Haga clic en Departamentos y elija Transporte. Esta información estará disponible en la tarde del viernes 27 de agosto. Abajo, al lado derecho de la página, haga clic en “Access Bus Start and End Times”. Necesitará el número de identificación de su estudiante. Además, asegúrese de completar un formulario de parada de autobús alternativa si su estudiante necesita ser recogido o dejado en un lugar diferente. Puede encontrar esta información en el sitio web de Newburgh bajo el Departamento de Transporte.
