UPDATE: Spectators for Athletics and Fine and Performing Arts Events

Dear NECSD students, families, faculty, and staff,

The district has been continuously monitoring positive COVID-19 cases since March 2020 both in the community and in the district. As anticipated, positive cases are beginning to rise throughout the country as the winter months approach. 

We are hopeful that we may continue operating as “normally” as possible for as long as possible. However, this week, some schools in our area began to set limitations for guests at events in response to rising numbers in their community. As such, our families should become familiar with each district protocol if they plan to attend an event hosted by another district. 

In an attempt to be proactive before NECSD community numbers continue to rise, the district will also be implementing limitations on visitors to school/district events. Effective Monday, December 6, 2021, each athlete or performer will be permitted to have three guests that must be added to the official list for their specific team or group. For athletics, the away team will have the same allotment. The district will not permit any other spectators or audience members for these events who are not on the list prior to the event. As always, masks are required inside all school and district buildings, regardless of vaccination status. 

Based on available tests, the district continues to implement weekly testing for all unvaccinated employees and any student who wishes to be tested. In addition to this testing protocol, the district is working to continue acting as a COVID-19 vaccination distribution site. Since June, the district has offered six vaccination distributions. The Pfizer vaccination has been offered, which is now authorized for people 5 years of age and older. Through these distributions, approximately 660 people have been fully vaccinated.

In addition to the NYS COVID Report Card, positive cases reported in school buildings are posted on the school page of the district website and emailed to families each night at 5:00pm. If you need assistance with any other matter, please continue to follow the communications protocol for families that can be found here.

Please continue to wash your hands, watch your distance, and wear a mask when you are in close proximity to others. Also, if you haven’t done so already, please consider receiving the COVID-19 vaccination and/or booster shot. Together, we can overcome this pandemic.

Estimados estudiantes, familias, profesores y personal de NECSD:

El distrito ha estado monitoreando continuamente los casos positivos de COVID-19 desde marzo de 2020 tanto en la comunidad como en el distrito. Como se anticipó, los casos positivos están comenzando a aumentar en todo el país a medida que se acercan los meses de invierno.

Tenemos la esperanza de que podamos seguir funcionando con la mayor "normalidad" posible durante el mayor tiempo posible. Sin embargo, esta semana, algunas escuelas en nuestra área comenzaron a establecer limitaciones para los invitados a los eventos en respuesta al aumento del número en su comunidad. Como tal, nuestras familias deben familiarizarse con el protocolo de cada distrito si planean asistir a un evento organizado por otro distrito.

En un intento de ser proactivo antes de que el número de comunidades de NECSD continúe aumentando, el distrito también implementará limitaciones para los visitantes a los eventos de la escuela / distrito. A partir del lunes 6 de diciembre de 2021, a cada atleta o participante se le permitirá tener tres invitados que deben agregarse a la lista oficial de su equipo o grupo específico. Para el atletismo, el equipo visitante tendrá la misma asignación. El distrito no permitirá ningún otro espectador o miembro de la audiencia para estos eventos que no estén en la lista antes del evento. Como siempre, se requieren máscaras dentro de todos los edificios de la escuela y el distrito, independientemente del estado de vacunación.

Con base en las pruebas disponibles, el distrito continúa implementando pruebas semanales para todos los empleados no vacunados y cualquier estudiante que desee hacerse la prueba. Además de este protocolo de prueba, el distrito está trabajando para continuar actuando como un sitio de distribución de la vacuna COVID-19. Desde junio, el distrito ha ofrecido seis distribuciones de vacunas. Se ha ofrecido la vacuna Pfizer, que ahora está autorizada para personas de 5 años en adelante. A través de estas distribuciones, aproximadamente 660 personas han sido vacunadas por completo.
