Update - NFA Main to resume in-person learning

Hello NFA Main Goldbacks,

As you are aware, the district received an anonymous alleged threat of violence made via social media directed toward NFA Main Campus yesterday. The district immediately reached out to local law enforcement agencies to report the post. With the assistance of local law enforcement, the building has been cleared. Students and employees can return to the building tomorrow. Additionally, local law enforcement has followed up with social media and internet outlets to assist in identifying the person who made the alleged threat. We are thankful for their quick and professional response to this concern. 

Please remind your child(ren) and scholars that threats of this nature are taken seriously and may be considered a federal crime. 

We are thankful for the people who came forward to share their concerns with an adult, who was able to communicate the issue with local law enforcement and district officials. We commend their bravery for speaking with an adult when they felt that something was not right. Please encourage your children to speak with an adult like a parent/guardian, teacher, guidance counselor, social worker, coach, or administrator if they have information that they would like to share. The district often learns of this information from students. The vision of the district is: “Through the work of all, we will achieve inclusive excellence.” This vision includes everyone in our NECSD community. 

We take every threat that we receive seriously, involve local law enforcement, and implement the necessary disciplinary consequences. We will not be sharing specific information to not interfere with the investigation. Additionally, we legally cannot comment on disciplinary action that is taken or share information about individual students. However, please trust that we are working quickly and collaborating with authorities to provide a safe learning environment for all of our scholars and educators.

Additionally, parents and guardians should discuss the consequences of making statements of violence with their child(ren). The words that people choose to use matters and can have long-lasting consequences, regardless of whether they are made in a joking manner or with the intended seriousness of those words. Local law enforcement agencies and district personnel that follow up on unintended threats take valuable time and focus away from other student issues, and can even distract from events that might truly pose a safety threat.

Como saben, ayer el distrito recibió una supuesta amenaza anónima de violencia hecha a través de las redes sociales dirigida al campus principal de la NFA. El distrito se comunicó de inmediato con las agencias policiales locales para informar la publicación. Con la ayuda de la policía local, el edificio ha sido despejado. Los estudiantes y empleados pueden regresar al edificio mañana. Además, la policía local ha realizado un seguimiento con las redes sociales y los puntos de venta de Internet para ayudar a identificar a la persona que hizo la supuesta amenaza. Estamos agradecidos por su respuesta rápida y profesional a esta inquietud.

Recuerde a sus hijos y estudiantes que las amenazas de esta naturaleza se toman en serio y pueden considerarse un delito federal.

Estamos agradecidos por las personas que se acercaron para compartir sus inquietudes con un adulto, quien pudo comunicar el problema a la policía local y a los funcionarios del distrito. Felicitamos su valentía por hablar con un adulto cuando sintieron que algo no estaba bien. Anime a sus hijos a hablar con un adulto como un padre/tutor, maestro, consejero, trabajador social, entrenador o administrador si tienen información que les gustaría compartir. El distrito a menudo se entera de esta información de los estudiantes. La visión del distrito es: “Con el trabajo de todos, lograremos la excelencia inclusiva”. Además, legalmente no podemos comentar sobre las medidas disciplinarias que se toman ni compartir información sobre estudiantes individuales. Sin embargo, confíe en que estamos trabajando rápidamente y colaborando con las autoridades para brindar un entorno de aprendizaje seguro para todos nuestros estudiantes y educadores.

Además, los padres y tutores deben discutir las consecuencias de hacer declaraciones de violencia con sus hijos. Las palabras que las personas eligen usar son importantes y pueden tener consecuencias duraderas, independientemente de si se hacen en broma o con la seriedad intencionada de esas palabras. Las agencias policiales locales y el personal del distrito que hacen un seguimiento de las amenazas no intencionadas toman un tiempo valioso y se enfocan en otros problemas de los estudiantes, e incluso pueden distraer la atención de los eventos que realmente podrían representar una amenaza para la seguridad.
