NWS Scholars Commit to Kindness with New Kindness Garden
While participating in the school-wide focus on celebrating Kindness during Kindness Week, New Windsor School students created a Kindness Garden. The flowers for the garden were made using PiktoTape and construction paper. Students also designed Kindness posters in their Art classes. Inspired by the care and love required to grow a garden, the students learned that friendship is like a seed—it needs to be nurtured and taken care of in order to grow. Throughout the exercise, students felt encouraged to express how good kindness feels. The students also spoke on ways to grow more friendship in the classroom and throughout the school. Students and staff signed the “Commit to be Being Kind” poster in the main hallway to display their dedication to being kind. It was a collaborative effort and the students really loved working together.
Thank you to all of the students and staff that participated!
A special “Thank you” to Davis Publications for their generous donation of a Pikto Tape Kit that insured the students had plenty of material to create the Kindness Garden!
