Twelve foot T-Rex roams halls of GAMS
The GAMS Community and the NECSD Family and Community Engagement (FACE) Division teamed up on Wednesday, November 15 at 5:30 p.m. at GAMS to provide an interactive, fun, and exciting family engagement night event. Families started off with workshops on learning styles, destressing through yoga, and the college preparation process.
Families then moved on to Family Math Night, which included numerous math stations facilitated by GAMS teachers and NFA scholars. Every young scholar was given a take home math activity to do with their parent to support learning in the home.
Mad Science performed a “Fire and Ice” show demonstrating science in a way that excited the imagination of our families and filled the room with oohs and aahs. But the oohs and aahs turned to screams of enthusiasm as 'Fluffy' entered the room. Fluffy is the 8’ foot baby T-Rex who took pictures, accepted hugs and was petted by many a brave young scholar and their family. As families exited the event, they were given a “grab and go” dinner! A big thank you to all the GAMS professionals and staff, FACE parent and community volunteers, workshop presenters, and the families who came out to celebrate learning and laughter with love!
