NFA North Campus fight at dismissal

Dear NFA North students, families, faculty, and staff,

I’m writing to share some information about an incident that occurred at NFA North Campus at dismissal today. A group of four males crossed Robinson Avenue to enter school grounds and engaged in an altercation with four NFA North Campus students. The Orange County Sheriff, who is present on each campus each day, along with NECSD security monitors and administrators quickly acted to break up the altercation. As the students were dispersing, two security monitors and an administrator witnessed one of the males (who entered school grounds from off-campus) pull out a knife. When the monitors approached him, the male began to run and exited campus.

The City of Newburgh Police Department was called. They, along with a New York State Trooper, responded to the school. An investigation is underway. We continue to be thankful for the professionalism and collaboration of local law enforcement and all they do to help provide a safe and security learning environment for all of our students. 

The matter is also being investigated internally by the school district and all students involved will be subjected to the Student Code of Conduct.

Estimados estudiantes, familias, profesores y personal de NFA North,

Le escribo para compartir información sobre un incidente que ocurrió en el campus norte de la NFA a la hora de la despedida de hoy. Un grupo de cuatro hombres cruzó Robinson Avenue para ingresar a los terrenos de la escuela y tuvo un altercado con cuatro estudiantes del NFA North Campus. El alguacil del condado de Orange, que está presente en cada campus todos los días, junto con los monitores de seguridad y los administradores del NECSD actuaron rápidamente para acabar con el altercado. Mientras los estudiantes se dispersaban, dos monitores de seguridad y un administrador vieron a uno de los hombres (que ingresó a la escuela desde fuera del campus) sacar un cuchillo. Cuando los monitores se le acercaron, el macho echó a correr y salió del recinto.

Se llamó al Departamento de Policía de la Ciudad de Newburgh. Ellos, junto con un policía estatal de Nueva York, respondieron a la escuela. Una investigación está en curso. Seguimos agradecidos por el profesionalismo y la colaboración de las fuerzas del orden locales y todo lo que hacen para ayudar a proporcionar un entorno de aprendizaje seguro para todos nuestros estudiantes.

El asunto también está siendo investigado internamente por el distrito escolar y todos los estudiantes involucrados estarán sujetos al Código de Conducta Estudiantil.
