Newburgh Free Academy MBK Fellows Recognized by New York State Department of Education
On Friday, May 13th, Mr. Jeffrey C. Woody, Interim Assistant Superintendent and Chief Equity Officer of the Newburgh Enlarged City School District (NECSD), presented three Newburgh Free Academy (NFA) My Brother's Keeper (MBK) Fellows with certificates of recognition from the New York State Department of Education. These MBK Fellows, have been selected for the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 school years to receive authentic leadership opportunities in government, education, and business.
The New York State Education Department initiated this program in 2018 to provide 11th grade high school students, with an emphasis on boys and young men of color, with opportunities to develop service projects beneficial to the schools they attend and the communities they live in.
